Birmingham Airport terminal guide

Birmingham has one terminal for every flight. Check in on the ground floor, go up for security, then follow the screens to your gate.

Quick answer

There is a single terminal. Check-in is on the ground floor in Zones A to D. Security is on the first floor. After security, the main departure lounge leads to gates 40 to 59, and the south lounge serves gates 1 to 20. Arrivals come out on the ground floor.

One terminal, two halves

The airport operates a single terminal for all arriving and departing flights. It was formed in 2011 when the two older terminals were joined; gates 1 to 20 sit in the former Terminal 2, and the International Pier, opened in 2009, has air bridges for wide-body aircraft.

Ground floor: check-in and arrivals

Airline and bag drop desks are all on the ground floor, with self-service kiosks for some airlines on the ground and first floors. Zones are signposted outside and shown on the screens. The assisted travel desk is in the concourse between Costa and SPAR. See check-in and baggage.

First floor: security

The security hall is on the first floor, with one entrance near Zone A (stairs, escalator or lift) and one near Zone B (stairs or lifts). The pre-bookable Express Lane is at the Zone B entrance only. If you arrive by train on the first floor, go down to the ground floor to join the queue. Liquid rules are on security at BHX.
